5 Big Things You Need to Do to Prepare for Easter

Easter is just around the corner. April 20th to be exact.  It will be here before you know it and now is the time to start preparing for Easter.

Here are 5 big things you need to do as you prepare.

Prepare your first-time guest experience.

You only have one opportunity to make a great first impression with new families on Easter.

If you want to see families return, then your first impression is critical.

Where will they park?

Who will greet them?

Where will they check-in?

Who will help them find their classrooms?

How will you train your volunteers to be welcoming to first-time families?

How will you explain your safety and security plan to guests on Easter?

If you are looking for ways to improve your guest services, then get my book "Be Our Church Guest."  In this book, I share the keys to providing guest families with a great experience. You can order it here.

Enlist new volunteers.

Easter is a great time to enlist new volunteers.  Share with your church about the opportunities they will have to serve on Easter.  Enlist them.  Equip them.  Watch God use them as they use their spiritual gifts to help make Easter a great day.

After Easter is over, go back and invite the new volunteers who served at Easter to join your team on a permanent basis.  It's a great way to grow your volunteer team.  I have had as high as 85% of the volunteers who served on Easter come back and decide to serve on our team year round.

Prepare for your outreach events.

Are you going to be doing an outreach event at Easter?

Easter egg hunt?  Family outreach event?  Gifts for each attendee?

Now is the time to get ready.

Choose an Easter curriculum.

Many children's ministries do a stand alone lesson for Easter that focuses on the Easter story.  I have two great lessons you can use for this.  These lessons are highly interactive and kids love them.  Churches across the country have used these lessons to engage kids with the Easter story.  You can get more info. at the links below.

Prepare for your Easter follow-up.

What will be your follow-up plan?

How will you connect with guests?

How will you get guests to return?

Begin preparing now in these five areas and you will be ready for a great time of Easter ministry.
